Yeah…this is stupid, because all the other things were like “Well, she doesn’t want to fry her hair/she can’t control her acne” and the “fat” one was sarcastic and against skinny girls. Uh, like skinny girls are terrified of eating cookies? I don’t think so. My cousin is a size 0 and she eats a ton of junk food she just has a FAST METABOLISM.
Jeez, I know people think stuff like this is helping, but it’s really not.
It’s a pretty cute, harmless cartoon, but there are a few problems it reflects that I’ve seen in more serious forms elsewhere.
-Continuing to talk about big women using thin ones as a reference point. Even in a jesting or ridiculing manner, it’s still using thinness as a standard. Why couldn’t they have just had a chubby one captioned ‘maybe she’s happy being fat.’
-I noticed that this was also blogged on the otherwise wonderful Fuck Yeah Body Love, which is kind of reinforcing my opinion that ‘love your body’ always carries the subtext ‘unless you are thin.’ Unfortunately, loving one’s body seems to involve hating others’.
-The implication that thin women are afraid of food. I’ve heard it before. But dammit, I like my pizza and donuts as much as the next person.
I suppose I could join the hate brigade since I’m not a size 0 and never will be, but I just don’t see how going around saying ‘at least I’m not a size 0’ is going to help anyone.
Yeah, thank you so much for posting this! I saw yours and had an “OH SHITSHITSHIT” moment. I edited the reblog to say this but I wanted to put it here as well.. If you see me doing that (with anything at all!), PLEASE message me and let me know. I try my best but obviously have blind spots. It didn’t even occur to me that it could be offensive.. Just saw a cute comic. Sigh. I shall pay more attention in the future.
FYSC is a blog for skinny chicks who haven't yet realized how beautiful they are. We are welcome to all readers and would love help with promoting our goal of body acceptance for our audience.

Yeah, it was well intentioned but unecessary.

It might make you feel better that FYBL reblogged this post.

Sorry again. I feel so bad right now.
Aww, don’t feel bad. I had to look at it several times to see what was wrong with the picture so to speak. I love your blog, it’s so upbeat!
